Goal card

A mentoring cohort works better with one clear goal. As you answer the questions, the card on the right takes shape; the clarity score shows whether the goal is measurable and actionable.

Write your goal

Keep it short and in your own words. You can fill in any blank fields together with your mentor.

Write it as a behavior or a result: not "be a better manager" but "give each team member one-on-one feedback once a week."

Questions to ask in the session

  1. Picture the day you reach this goal: what do you see, what do you hear, who notices?
  2. Is this goal yours, or is it something someone else expects of you?
  3. On a scale of 1 to 10, how committed are you to this goal? What would it take to add one point?
  4. When have you achieved something similar before? What worked then?
  5. How will I know you have taken the first step? What shall we talk about next session?
How to use it

In three steps

  1. After the first session the mentee fills in a first draft of the card; the clarity score does not have to be high yet.
  2. In the second session you review the card together; the measure and the first step get sharper, and both of you keep a copy of the PDF.
  3. At the start of every session go back to the card: was the first step taken, and how is the measure looking?
