Strengths and development areas

First you, then your mentor, score twelve competencies from 1 to 5. The gaps between you spark the most productive conversations: strengths you don't see in yourself and blind spots you haven't noticed.

          For the mentor

Questions to ask in the session

          1. Look at your hidden strengths: why do you rate yourself lower here?
          2. Shall I give you an example for a blind spot? Tell me when you are ready to hear it.
          3. Which of your shared strengths could you use as leverage for a development area?
          4. Which development area would bring you closest to your goal?
          5. Who could you ask for more feedback to make this picture clearer?
          How to use it

          In three steps

          1. The mentee fills in their own row before the session.
          2. The mentor fills in their own row separately, without seeing the mentee's; the scores are combined in the session. The mentor should be able to back each score with an observation.
          3. In the session talk about hidden strengths first, then blind spots. This order reduces defensiveness.
