Six-session plan

    For the senior leader

The golden rules of reverse mentoring

    1. Leave your title at the door. In the session, you are the learner; asking questions and saying "I don't know" are welcome.
    2. Confidentiality runs both ways. What the young mentor shares does not get passed on to their manager.
    3. The calendar is sacred. Sessions postponed by the senior leader are the fastest way to end a program.
    4. It goes both ways. In the last session, the young mentor also shares what they learned.
    For HR

    Watch out when matching

    1. Do not pick the young mentor from the senior leader's direct reporting line.
    2. Participation is voluntary; the young mentor gets a short preparation workshop.
    3. The program's visibility creates career opportunities for the young mentor; use this deliberately.
